Best Tequila for Margarita – from
$100 and Up to Under $50
Let’s go! Here’s our list. We hope you’re inspired to pick up a bottle and get crafty with what some would argue is the best cocktail on planet Earth. We’re not putting up a fight on that one. Especially today as we honor the Tequila Queen herself. We love ya, Margarita! Your salty rim makes the world go ‘round.
Store-bought Margarita mixes are pretty basic. They’ll work in a pinch if you really need them. But for top-notch craft cocktails, do it right, y’all. Fresh juice, real liqueur, and fine tequila. Don’t be basic. Be magical.
1) Grand Mayan Ultra Aged – $100 and Above
We’re not gonna lie. Grand Mayan Ultra Aged Tequila is everything and then some. We’d put it in the sipping tequila category any day. It’s dark and rich, and it’ll make one hell of a margarita, too. If you’re looking to craft an unforgettable cocktail, here’s your chance.
Recipe Tip: Cocktail Society’s personal favorite is actually GM Ultra Aged! Check out their recipe here.
2) Casa Noble Crystal – Under $100
Want to bring some roasted and chalky elements to this colorful and fruity classic? Give this Blanco a try! We highly recommend it in a classic marg, or even if you’re looking for something out-of-the-box, like the suggestion below.
Recipe Tip: Have a look at this recipe from Seduction in the Kitchen. Creamsicle is getting down with the Casa!
3) Patron Silver – Under $50
We bet you’ve heard of this one. It’s pleasant, versatile, and perfect for National Margarita Day cocktails. It’s super approachable, and you can pick it up at your local liquor store pretty easily. Note that those who enjoy old-world margaritas might insist on something with some age and oak. But if you’re serving a thirsty, rowdy crowd, they’re gonna dig it. Trust us.
Recipe Tip: Once named Margarita of the Year, this Patrón Silver Hacienda Margarita recipe is sure to delight.
